Who Took Home the Gold in 2012 Men's Tennis Doubles?

The Official Results

The Men's Doubles Tennis event at the 2012 Summer Olympics in London was a thrilling competition that saw some of the world's best players battle it out for the gold medal. In the end, it was the American duo of Bob and Mike Bryan who emerged victorious, taking home the gold medal after defeating the French team of Michael Llodra and Jo-Wilfried Tsonga in the final.

The Road to the Gold

The Bryan brothers had a tough road to the gold medal, but they played consistently well throughout the tournament. They started their campaign with a comfortable win over the Italian pair of Daniele Bracciali and Andreas Seppi, before facing a tougher challenge in the second round against the Canadian duo of Daniel Nestor and Vasek Pospisil. The Bryans won that match in straight sets, and they followed it up with another straight-sets win over the Israeli pair of Jonathan Erlich and Andy Ram in the quarterfinals.

In the semifinals, the Bryans faced their toughest challenge yet against the Serbian pair of Novak Djokovic and Nenad Zimonjic. The match went to a third-set tiebreaker, but the Bryans eventually prevailed, winning 10-8. That victory set up a gold medal match against the French team of Llodra and Tsonga.

The Gold Medal Match

The gold medal match was a close affair, but the Bryan brothers ultimately proved to be too strong for the French duo. The Americans won the first set 6-4, and they broke serve early in the second set to take a 2-0 lead. Llodra and Tsonga fought back to tie the set at 2-2, but the Bryans broke serve again in the eighth game to take a 5-3 lead. They served out the set to win 6-4 and claim the gold medal.
