Cristiano Ronaldo and Portugal knocked out of Euro 2024 after penalty shootout loss to France

Portugal fell to France in a penalty shootout in the quarterfinal match of Euro 2024 at the Allianz Arena in Munich.

Kylian Mbappe opened the scoring for France in the 19th minute with a close-range header from Antoine Griezmann's cross. Portugal leveled in the 41st minute through a diving header from Joao Felix.

The match remained tied at 1-1 after extra time, sending it to a penalty shootout to determine the winner.

France converted all five of their penalties, while Portugal missed their fourth, taken by Joao Felix.

Kylian Mbappe scored the winning penalty for France, sending them to the semifinal, where they will face either England or Spain.
