Spa, Belgium - Red Bulls Max Verstappen took the checkered flag in Saturdays Belgian Grand Prix sprint event, securing pole position for Sundays 13th round of the 2023 Formula 1 World Championship.
Verstappen fought hard in a tricky race, battling with McLaren's Oscar Piastri and Ferrari's Carlos Sainz. In the end, the two-time world champion prevailed, earning eight points that will boost his title challenge.
Piastri, who started alongside Verstappen on the front row, put in a strong performance, finishing just 0.788 seconds behind. Sainz completed the podium after a late-race pass on Hamilton.
